Essay: Story of Uncle Tom’s Cabin
Stowe is believed to be the one who initiated the civil war in America of 1861 and 1865 as Abraham Lincoln said, “So this is the little lady who made this big war” (Sachsman et al 2) when he met her. This was the time when Lincoln wanted to together with the authority had resolved to expand slavery to the states where it was not being practiced. On the other hand, writers like Stowe were on the opposing side of slavery for they did not see anything positive about slavery.
In fact, she wrote her book so that the readers could see the kind of life the fellow blacks and to go through as a result of slavery. She managed to explain in fine details such that all those who read her work were moved and thus had to fight against slavery. As the war proceeded, Lincoln made a proclamation that the only thing that could end the war was the end of slavery. This is a proof that the war was initiated by slavery and especially by the writers who made it clear to people, what slavery really was.
