Essay: Movie Analysis of Run Away Bride
The three now plan to do a wedding rehearsal with Ike as the stand in groom and Bob the priest. This works out to be the worst mistake since when it is time for the groom to kiss the bride they do it passionately in front of Bob. This leads to Bob punching Ike in the face and walking out of the church furiously. That proves to be the end of the relationship between Ike and Maggie. He tells her as his proposal “Look, I guarantee there’ll be tough times ——- want to get out of this thing ——- I’ll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know, in my heart, you’re the only one for me” (Runaway Bride).
Things work out in favor of Ike and the two agree to marry but he does not believe it after he is left standing at the alter on the wedding day. Maggie is spotted getting away in FedEx vehicle with in hot pursuit but to no avail. Later they meet in New York where we find Maggie trying to be friendly to Ike’s cat known as Italics where she explains to him why she is so afraid of marrying. She tells him “I hate big weddings with everybody staring. I would like to get married on a weekday while everybody is at work. And when I ride off into the sunset, I want my own horse” (Runaway Bride). She resolves to abandon the habit and they end up wedding in a private ceremony.
