Essay: Influence of illegal immigrants on US health care
Of importance to note is the fact that the number of illegal immigrants in the US is rising with time. This can be attributed to the fact that there are businesses in the US who are ready to offer these immigrants jobs because they earn less than US citizens. Moreover, the fines that illegal immigrants pay once they are caught are little and thus do not act as a deterrent to this habit. Conversely, there are no strict rules on the businesses that offer employment to these people and as a result, they solicit their services because they are cheap.
The presence of illegal immigrants in the country if raising demand for emergence room visits. This is because most of these illegal immigrants cannot access health care programs and thus they end up being forced to seek treatment in emergence rooms. The treatment offered at the emergence rooms is more expensive and this raises the cost of health care. On the other hand there are some states that offer covering the cost of treatment for illegal immigrants’ children with tax money. This money can be used on other developments for the nation. The problem is affecting some hospitals since they are writing off debts for uninsured illegal immigrants.
