Essay: Focus of Child Protection Services
It is agreeable that the prime focus of child protection services is (and should be) to identify threats posed by varied factors to the safety of children in the societal context and address them subsequently (Broadhurstet et al (2009).
Governments, communities, and other organizations bear a huge responsibility in protecting the child from abuse and neglect. More often than not, the efforts of social workers concentrate on improving the welfare of the child’s family to bring about sustainable, effective, and long-term intervention measure in the event of child abuse (AIHW, 2009). Nonetheless, they have triggered the debate on the objectives of the services, as they seem now more than ever to be geared towards management of personal and family relationships.
