Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats are made up of the large portion of important nutrients to the body. These are nutrients which provide the fuel for the body that is needed by each teenage athlete.
Carbohydrates are very important for providing the energy required for exercising muscles. The athletes can acquire these nutrients from eating foods such as fruits, starchy vegetables, low-fat dairy and whole grains. When carbohydrate stores are used up by the body and go down on levels during prolonged activity, the body can also generate energy through breaking down the proteins and fat deposits in the athlete’s body (Manore, 2004). Eating right will always ensure that the athlete has got these energy reservoirs in his or her body.
