Emotions are always generated in the subconscious mind of the human being. The physiological changes that result from these emotions however usually originate from the unconscious processes that take place in the individual’s brain.
The conscious mind refers to the present state of the mind. It is what one thinks with everyday and determines how they perceive themselves and the environment they are in (Brown, 2010). The subconscious mind which generates the emotions in the body stores the memory of everything that has ever happened before (Brown, 2010). This part of the brain cannot be accessed by normal means such as thinking about it. It has to be evoked.
