In matters trade, Egypt has not been left behind. The country has gone ahead to joining powerful trading block where it has been accepted more readily than it woud be for any other powerful nation. This implies that the country is regarded as ideal to get involved in matters that affect Africa as a whole. Egypt joined the common market for eastern and southern Africa (COMESA) in 1998. This move indicated that Egypt was committed to trade with other African countries and enable them grow stronger economically.
Egypt offers a very huge market from African produce as it has a very huge population of about 80 million . Since it is a mutual agreement, the country exports its goods to member states earning foreign exchange too. On top of that the country has gone ahead to join the Sahel and Sahara union (SEN-SAD), thus increasing its ability to push forward inter-African integration of African countries. Egypt still boasts for its role that culminated in the establishment of the new partnership for Africa’s development (NEPAD). It has been signed other responsibility of operationalizing the agricultural department.
