It would be difficult for the employee to keep himself abreast with the daily occurrences in the office. He will seem out touch because he does not visit the office every other day.
Office politics plays an important role in one’s career. The employee would not have the privilege of indulging in office politics.
When working from home, there is a tendency for an employee to overwork. This is because it is difficult to determine when to start and when to stop working. At times, it is important that one should realize when work should stop. This is important in creating a good balance between work and family life.
When setting up an office at home, it is important that an employee has to create ore space for the office. This may force him to let other things go because of the need to have an office.
There is also a need for continuous training. When employees are working from home, they are not in a position to get adequate training. This would make it difficult for them to progress in their careers.
Due to technical problems that may inhibit their performance, the organization may view an employee in an unfavorable light. This would normally make it difficult for the employee to get promotions.
