The highest percentage of pollution is as a result of human factors in the area. This implies that human activities should be monitored as a way of controlling pollution.
Increased population is one of the reasons why the Massachusetts coastal environment is highly polluted. An increase in population signifies an increase in economic activity of which some of the activities result to pollution. Increased population implies that there is increased noise pollution at the coastal environment. Noise pollution has affected the habitat of the whales at this coastal region. The population of the whales at the Massachusetts coastal region has hence gone down due to reduced reproduction. This has been due to disruption of their living environment.
