Essay: Character and psychological development of poor people
Apart from giving food aid to poor people, another thing that attracted me to the organization and its activities is the role it played in the character and psychological development of the people of Pine Ridge. In most cases, poverty has a psychological effect on people especially when it is coupled with other factors that affect the normal living conditions of a person for instance, diseases, unemployment, poor education and crime.
The Episcopal church of Pine Ridge has very helpful and fruitful programs where residents are encouraged to work hard, develop a positive attitude toward life and uphold peace and harmony upon themselves. In addition, the Church has also facilitated the setting upon of various self-help projects that actively involve the residents for income generation and peaceful interaction and co-existence.
