Essay: Bullying-Current state of the problem
Bullying problem remains a thorny issue in today’s world. The subsequent incidences of highschool shooting sprees have been associated with bullying. This indicated that the problem is set cause more havoc if the necessary measures are not taken (High, 2011). Future prospects against bullying still remain illusive unless appropriate legislation and awareness measures are established. Change in the future can only be effected if proper grassroots strategies are employed. Such measures include proactive ant-bullying education mainly directed to the youths.
Community based programs are also proving a viable option basing on what has already been achieved. Therefore, this approach should be embraced to boost the fight against bullying. Another major proposal to deal with this problem in the future is to imbibe necessary laws into the criminal justice system seeking to treat bullying not just like any other crime, but one that needs a different kind of approach (Hazler, 1996, p. 149), . School authorities need to be equipped with the necessary information about this crime and therefore assist in denaturing the most notorious breeding ground for this crime. The future looks brighter if only necessary anti-bullying laws are drafted and fully implemented.
