Essay: There Should be Adequate Nursing Staff
It is paramount that there is adequate nurse staffing in all hospitals. This will reduce the number of patients dying from negligence by the overworked nurses. It will also allow nurses to have adequate and undivided time with their patients. This is especially possible when other nurses can take up some of the work hence the nurse appointed to a certain patient concentrates on him. Following job satisfaction, these experienced nurses will keep working and all relevant stakeholders including patients and hospital administrators will be satisfied (Spetz, 2001, p.135).
From the evidence above and my aunt’s ordeal, I fully support the legislative push to regulate nurse to patient ratio. All the Nurses will safely and happily do the work they love.
