Essay: Ability to Speak Foreign Languages
Advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad
Learning of new things is exiting to most of students. In some countries, educational systems such as that in Norway demands that one is supposed to have the ability of speaking Norshk before they are admitted into their educational system. This implies that learning of a foreign language is at least unavoidable for incoming students (Doyle et al. P. 404). This has an advantage to foreign students as they gain the ability to speak more languages hence easy communication and jobs searching. Such requirement are however detrimental since they add a burden to a student class work as they have to combine them with other studies.
Best qualifications are perceived to come from reputed educational institutions such as this one, Harvard, Oxford and many other across the world. This argument perceives curriculum vitae of students from these institutions as the best thus giving them an advantage of easily being hired when they go back to their countries of origin or anywhere in the world. This places this student in a very marketable position basing on the institutions they attended (Cressey 2004 p. 69). This phenomenon exposes many student to the risk of attending poorly ranked institutions or even scrupulous ones with the intent of just getting a foreign certificate. Many students have fallen prey to some of these colleges that claim to offer certain internationally recognized courses.
