This paper analysis the production aspects of Stickely Furniture Company, by using production processes, facility layout processes, operational management principles. It is realised that production processes, practices, facility layout and Stickely’s production policy have made the company realise increased productivity, efficiency, production of quality products that satisfy customers. These have improved the company’s performance especially after Alfred Audi and his family took over in the 1970s as they directed employees to maintain a production legacy.
However, since the company is owned and depends on the Audi family to manage and run it, its future sustainability is questionable, especially considering its near collapse in the 1970s after the Stickely brothers died. For this reason, I have recommended a change of business processes, Re-engineering of production processes and the use of “Just in Time” production methods to reduce factory space used up in Stickely’s inventory strategy and sustain the company.
